Wangbei Tea Pavilion

Designed by Japanese architect Terunobu Fujimori, the Wangbei Tea Pavilion was completed in 2014. Facing north toward the green spaces of the Central Arts Park, with historic red-brick buildings providing a backdrop behind it, the pavilion was considered an ideal location for a tea house—hence the name “Wangbei,” meaning “facing north.”

Taiwanese cedar was used for the woodwork both inside and outside the pavilion. Eight pieces of Taiwan moso bamboo were also incorporated into the structure, supporting this elevated tea pavilion, which occupies an area of less than 13 square meters.
