Melaleuca Terrace

Melaleuca Terrace is an outdoor plaza located between the Sake Workshop and the Visitor Service Center in the Tower Area. The space takes its elegant name from the many tall and graceful melaleuca trees planted throughout the plaza.

In 2011, renowned architect Wen-Chieh Chiu redesigned and extensively renovated Melaleuca Terrace over a period of nine months. The space reopened during the Dragon Boat Festival in 2012. All of the trees originally growing in the plaza were preserved, while a new set of steps was added to connect the plaza with the Rice Wine Production Area and also serve as audience seating. This transformed the plaza into an intimate, small-scale stage space. Washed-pebble concrete was used for the walls, while the lighting fixtures were designed to complement and harmonize with the surrounding environment.

Today, street performers frequently perform here on weekends and holidays, and visitors are welcome to sit on the steps and enjoy a variety of performances at their leisure.
